Police are appealing for witnesses after a car being driven by ‘joyriders’ on Brean beach crashed into a beach warden’s truck last night (Tuesday).
Four occupants inside the Peugeot 307 ran off following the collision near the beach entrance just before 7pm, pictured here.
The collision left the beach warden inside the truck with lower back injuries.
“The driver of the Peugeot 307 had been speeding along the beach and performing high-speed wheel turns and ‘doughnuts’ in the sand,” beach warden Kevin Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“I asked them to stop, and told them they were breaking the law by putting the safety of other beach users at risk.”
“But they didn’t listen and sped off along the beach to the exit and crashed into my vehicle next to the entrance. They then jumped out and ran off.”
Police from Burnham-On-Sea were called to the scene and are investigating the incident.
Anyone with information about the occupants should call the non-emergency police number 101.
