A beach walker stranded in mud on Burnham-On-Sea beach was rescued on Easter Sunday.
The alarm was raised after the woman got into difficulty in knee-deep mud near the town’s low lighthouse around 1pm.
The fire service was called and Burnham-On-Sea fire station sent a crew to the beach to help the lady out of the mud and to safety. Coastguards were also en route to help.
“She had misjudged the mud while walking along the beach and was helped up the beach to safety,” said a fire spokesperson.
It came during a busy Easter Sunday when beaches saw extra visitors in the mild weather.
