Sedgemoor District Council has officially unveiled a series of new beach safety signs in Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow this week.
The signs, pictured, provide maps of the beaches, emergency contact details, lifeguard service times and also explain useful safety and beach information.
“With more people using our beaches for pleasure than ever before, the demands placed on our water safety staff have never been greater,” said District Council spokeswoman Sam Elliott.
“Sedgemoor District Council firmly believes that providing new improved signage that is both visually pleasing and provides important safety messages is essential.”
The signage has been approved by EnCams, who administer the Quality Coast Awards, plus the Coastguard, RNLI and Royal Lifesaving Saving Society UK.
“We hope visitors and local users of the beach find these signs both helpful and informative,” added Sam.
