Volunteers collected 16 bags of rubbish during a community beach clean in Berrow at the weekend – and have issued a plea to local dog owners to ensure they remove their pet’s waste.
The event, organised by The Friends of Burnham Beach, saw a group of volunteers take part in a clean-up on Saturday morning (January 14th).
Organiser Harriet Yates-Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com it had been a successful, ading: “We had 11 great volunteers and 16 bags of rubbish were collected.”
But she added: “We picked up so many bags of dog waste and definitely need to remind people to take their dog waste home with them or use the dog waste bin provided on Berrow beach.”
It was the group’s first community beach clean of 2017 – the next will be held in Burnham-On-Sea at the mouth of the River Brue on February 11th when all will be welcome.
