More than 60 sackfuls of rubbish were collected during the latest beach clean in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (February 16th).
Dozens of volunteers took part in the latest clean-up at the southern end of the town’s beach around the mouth of the River Brue, as pictured here.
Mark Hollidge from the Friends of Burnham Beach told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “55 willing workers collected a vast amount of rubbish – we also had three dogs sniffing out some litter!”
“It was also great to welcome a group of children and teachers from King Alfred School Academy.”
“Another excellent morning was spent on the banks of the Brue and the southern end of Burnham beach –Â among the rubbish collected was a perfectly usable and good quality wooden garden chair which was won by a lucky person who could answer a quiz question.”
The volunteers finished off with a well-deserved hot drink and biscuits at Burnham sailing club.
The next Burnham-On-Sea beach clean will be held on Saturday, March 16th.
