BBC TV presenter opens new Burnham-On-Sea charity shop

BBC Points West presenter Chris VacherBBC Points West presenter Chris Vacher was in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday (May 29th) to open a new charity shop for Weston Hospicecare.

Chris, who is a patron of Weston Hospicecare, cut a ribbon to officially open the new shop in College Street shop at 1pm.

Peter Boyer, Retail Controller at Weston Hospicecare, said: “We are delighted Chris came to help us officially open the new Burnham shop, which is our ninth in total.”

“We help 170 patients in the Burnham area, so having a Hospice shop in the seaside town is a way of raising valuable funds while also increasing awareness of the services we offer to people living in the community.”

Burnham’s Mayor Peter Clayton was among the local VIPs at the special lunchtime opening, pictured here. The new store sells a wide variety of donated items including clothing, bric a brac and books.

Chris Vacher cut the ribbon watched by the shop’s assistant manager Rose Daniels and Burnham’s Mayor Peter Clayton.

The 30 invited guests listened to Weston Hospicecare Chairman Peter Griffiths explain the importance of opening the shop in Burnham.
