Burnham-On-Sea was in the national spotlight on Thursday morning (April 5th) when BBC One’s Breakfast programme broadcast live from the town’s seafront.
A series of weather forecasts for the whole of the UK were presented from the South Esplanade by BBC weather girl Carol Kirkwood, as pictured here.
Carol told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Burnham’s a lovely resort and seemed an ideal location for our Easter holiday forecasts.”
“The backdrop of the beach and paddling pool was ideal.”
A large satellite truck was parked in front of St Andrew’s Church in order to beam the live bulletins back to London.
During the broadcasts, Carol mentioned Burnham’s award-winning beaches and praised them as an “ideal location” for the Easter holiday weekend.
Later in the show, even Burnham-On-Sea.com got a mention for its coverage of Carol’s visit!
The two presenters in the London studio introduced Carol’s final weather broadcast of the morning with an enlarged version of Burnham-On-Sea.com’s story behind them, as pictured here.
Carol and the BBC team had stayed at the nearby Royal Clarence Hotel overnight.
