Staff at a Burnham-On-Sea cafe are celebrating this week after officially being told they offer a ‘five star’ service.
The Bay View Cafe on Burnham’s Esplanade is one of only a handful of restaurants and cafes in the town to earn a coveted 5-star rating in Somerset’s Food Scores scheme, which assesses food hygiene and cleanliness.
Bay View manager Sonia Fudge told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted to be recognised in this way. It’s a testament to our staff who keep up the high standards.”
Every food premises in Sedgemoor is being inspected by the district council’s Food Safety Team who give ratings on how well the premises comply with legal requirements, cleanliness and structure.
The other five star premises in the Burnham area are RJ’s at Unity Farm in Brean, The White Cottage at West Huntspill, Burnham Nursing Home, RABI Burnham, Highbridge’s King Alfred School and the Total Convenience Store in Highbridge.
Anna Hardman, Sedgemoor’s Food Safety Manager, said: “This is not a competition nor an award scheme but a system that allows customers and clients to see how their school, hospital, favourite sandwich bar or special occasion restaurant complies with food hygiene regulations.”
