A Burnham-On-Sea cafe is again counting the cost of crime after burglars smashed their way into the building this week.
This side window at the Bay View Cafe on the town’s Esplanade was smashed to gain entry at 3am on Sunday December 23rd.
The alarms sounded and police were quickly on the scene, but the burglars had already fled.
“Fortunately, we have recently tightened up our security. No money or valuables are left in the building overnight so the burglars performed a search but left empty-handed,” the cafe’s Sonya Fudge told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“It is incredibly annoying, though, because the repair bill for the window is so costly.”
This week’s incident comes in a week when two shops in the High Street were attacked by vandals on Christmas Eve, as Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here.
It is the second break-in at the seafront cafe this year.
Three months ago, burglars smashed their way into the Bay View Cafe in a similar late night raid and escaped with a large amount of cash, as we featured here.
Burnham-On-Sea Police have appealed for any witnesses to Sunday’s incident to come forward.
Anyone with information can contact the police via the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
