Burnham-On-Sea’s BAY Centre given £500 boost by Co-Op

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Co-Op Funeral Services has come to the help of the Burnham Area Youth Centre.

A project of improvements can now go ahead at the centre in Cassis Close following a £500 donation.

The cash will be pooled with other donations to finance changes to the centre’s kitchens, including the replacement of the existing cooker and introduction of a modified café counter to enable more flexible use of the centre’s facilities.

Jan Rowen from the Co-Op said: “The kitchen area is used when we hold our regular Sunday morning church group meetings, so we look forward to the work’s completion.”

Mike Lang, Bay Centre Vice Chairman, added: “The existing cooker, although safe, needs replacement with something more modern. We have around 500 people regularly using the centre, and efficient cooking facilities are essential. Ongoing projects included provision of an extra ball-stop fence at the end of our multi-purpose ball court, and replacement of our upper windows where the seals are starting to fail.”
