It was a Valentines Day to remember for two long-serving customers of the Battleborough Grange Hotel, near Burnham-On-Sea, when they were given VIP treatment to mark a special milestone.
Pam and Jack Hyland have travelled to the hotel for lunch every Wednesday and Sunday for the last 15 years – and staff this week decided to organise a surprise Valentines treat to mark the occasion.
Lorraine McKenna, the hotel’s manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “All the staff here look forward so much to seeing them every Wednesday and Sunday. They are so special to us and we decided to honour them by collecting them from their home in Weston in a chauffeur-driven limo before treating them to an extra special Valentines lunch.”
“We always keep their favourite table ready and waiting – and the staff always like to chat before lunch because they have so many wonderful stories to tell. They also like to impress us with their dapper dress code!”
“There was one occasion when they didn’t arrive as usual on a Wednesday and, like ‘concerned parents’, we gave them a quick ring to make sure they were OK – only to find they were running a bit late as they were having new carpets fitted!”
