Highbridge baton twirler competes for England at Euro championships

-

A Highbridge teenager has been selected to represent England in the European baton twirling championships in Holland.

Abi Cooper, 15, who is a student at King Alfred School, has been selected to compete for her country this autumn.

Abi took part in the majorette national championships at Weston recently where her team, the Chameleon Batonettes, enjoyed success.

They came first for various dances and were selected to be part of the team representing England in Holland in the European Championships in October.

Abi is the only Highbridge girl in the team, which is based in Bridgwater and trains twice a week.

Abi said: “I am so excited to be representing my country in Holland, and I’m very proud to have been part of the Chameleon Batonettes for the past six years and grateful for the opportunities they have given me.”

It’s the second time Abi has represented England – she previously competed at an event in Croatia.

Abi has a ‘go fund me’ page to help with the costs of getting her to Holland which is at https://www.gofundme.com/3xsaxo8. She hopes to raise £600.
