Barratt Homes has announced that it is preparing a planning application for a huge new housing development on land adjacent to Huntspill Road in Highbridge.
The proposals include 162 new 2, 3 and 4 bed family homes, a new primary school, a new roundabout on Huntspill Road to access the site, and accessible public open space and equipped area of play.
Sedgemoor District Council has already identified the wider ‘Brue Farm’ site as a site suitable for delivering up to 950 new homes.
“The site is located partially within that wider allocation, and would provide a number of important pieces of infrastructure to help service the additional homes, such as a new roundabout, and primary school,” a spokesperson for Barratt Homes told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Barratt Homes says it is undertaking pre-application consultation on the proposals prior to submitting an application later this year.
A public exhibition will be held on 25th September at the Highbridge Community Hall in Market Street, Highbridge between 2pm and 7pm.
The spokesperson added: “We’ve been working on the plans for this site for a number of years, and we’re pleased to be at a point now to share our thoughts with the local community.”
“We are looking forward to hearing the community’s views on our proposals, which we feel offer a number of key benefits to the local area.”
