Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue gets boost from shoppers

-

Hundreds of pounds has been raised for a Burnham-On-Sea rescue charity during a day-long collection at a town supermarket.

Crewmembers and supporters of BARB Search & Rescue were invited to do the collection at Burnham’s Tesco store in Ben Travers Way and collected an impressive total of £831 during the day.

A BARB spokesman said: “We are very grateful for all the support from Tesco customers and staff during our collection at the store this week.”

“The funds will go towards replacing some of our equipment used in missing people searches, including new high-power torches, maps, waterproof bags, casualty care blankets and crew cold weather gear.”

“Following an increase in missing person call-outs for BARB’s volunteers during the last 12 months, this funding will help to increase our capabilities.”
