Burnham rescue boat helps wildlife carers search for injured swan

-

A rescue boat crew from Burnham-On-Sea was called to help wildlife carers search for an injured swan on Cheddar Reservoir on Wednesday (November 25th).

East Huntspill based Secret World called on the help of BARB’s inshore rescue boat to recover the bird, which had swallowed a fishing hook and become entangled in fishing line.

Angler John Puddy, who first spotted the bird, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was in a lot of distress and pain with the fishing line entangled around it. It needed help.”

Secret World’s Lisa Hills was taken out onto the water in the BARB rescue boat to try and find the bird, but despite a thorough search, the animal was unfortunately not found and retrieved.

Visitors to the reservoir are therefore being asked to report any further sightings of the animal to Secret World.
