Dozens of people turned up in colourful costumes for a super hero themed fundraising event to help a life-saving Burnham-On-Sea charity on Saturday evening (March 20th).
BARB’s ‘Super Hero Night’ was held at Brean’s Beachcomber Inn in aid of the hovercraft rescue group’s £60,000 campaign to buy a new replacement craft.
MP David Heathcoat-Amory was among the supporters at the event and had the job of picking a winner from the line-up of entertaining costumes.
“It was a tough decision, there were some excellent outfits, but I was very happy to give my support to such a worthwhile local cause,” said Mr Heathcoat-Amory.
Nigel Hart from Brean was awarded first prize after being named the best-dressed for his Banana Man outfit.
Burnham glamour model Poppy Rivers was also in attendance and gave her support by donating a signed photograph of herself, which was auctioned.
With donations on the night, a total of £1,650 is expected to have been raised towards the cost of buying the new hovercraft.
The audience enjoyed an evening of live music from The Soundations, a popular motown, disco and soul group, plus other entertainment.
BARB organiser Michael Lowe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Thanks go to everyone who attended. It was a fun evening and helped raise a good sum towards the cost of BARB’s replacement hovercraft.”
