Brean’s Diamond Farm raises thousands for Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB

A busy summer of fundraising at a Brean holiday park has seen thousands of pounds being raised for the charity which runs Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercrafts.

Scores of events have been held throughout the holiday season at Diamond Farm to raise money for BARB.

Over the past week, a sponsored hair-colouring session (pictured right) has been held, in addition to a car boot sale, fundraising stalls and a display of Christmas lights.

A car and a motorbike have been raffled during August and Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress, Derick and Christine Cooper, were the special guests at Brean’s Beachcomber Inn on Sunday night (August 30th) to announce the winners.

The car raffle alone has raised over £2,500 and Diamond Farm will reveal later in September how much it has raised for charity during the whole summer season.

Roy Newell, one of the Diamond Farm organisers, said: “BARB does an essential job along the coastline in this area. It’s an excellent cause and everyone is very happy here to raise funds any way we can.”

BARB Chairman Mark Newman said: “We are very grateful for the superb fundraising support of everyone at Diamond Farm, who have been very generous backers of BARB over many years.”
