A competition has been launched by Burnham-based charity BARB in which the public can suggest names for its new inshore rescue boat.
The new rigid inshore boat replaces BARB’s old inflatable and will be used for carrying out rescues on lakes and rivers across the Burnham area.
Rather than choose a name for the boat, BARB is inviting the public to make suggestions.
A winner will be chosen from a hat and announced at Burnham’s rescue services day – called ESCAPE Day – on Sunday August 7th.
Entering the competition costs just £3 per go with all proceeds going to the charity’s funds.
To put forward a name, ask for an entry form at the BARB station on Burnham’s Esplanade during the charity’s weekly open days, which are being held every Sunday throughout the summer from 11am-4pm.
“This is a one-off opportunity to get a name onto the side of our new rescue boat. There has been lots of interest alteady, with names of children, pets and family members among those put forward,” said a spokesman.
