Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue was named Sedgemoor’s charity of the year at a regional business awards ceremony on Thursday night.
The Burnham charity, which operates two hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat, was awarded the title by a panel of judges at the Sedgemoor Business Awards.
Over 200 people attended the event, which was held at the Energy Skills Centre at Bridgwater College, where ten awards were presented to the area’s top businesses and groups in several categories.
BARB’s Operations Manager Mike Lowe and Chairman Mark Newman received the award, as pictured here. “It’s a great honour to receive this award on behalf of our dedicated volunteer crewmembers,” they said.
