A popular home and professional baker competition is set to return for a fourth time at the Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival on 24th May 2014.
The Great Burnham Bake Off aims to encourage families to bake together and adds a spoonful of friendly competition between bakers.
This May’s competition, sponsored by Burnham chartered financial planners Positive Wealth Creation, has three categories for entries; home bakers (families or individuals) and professional bakers.
All bakers can enter the cake competition and in addition home bakers can enter the bread competition and new Technical Challenge. All competitions are free to enter.
Festival director Beverley Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com “the new Technical Challenge is taking the competition to a different level with entrants been asked to bake a dozen sweet scones. The judges won’t just be looking for taste and appearance but also 12 scones that are uniformed. We have sampled some amazing scones locally and I am sure this will be a popular and hotly contested competition.”
Fellow Festival Director Sarah Milner Simonds added: “We also have the support of The Tiptree World Bread Awards for the May competition with two free entries for the winner and runner up in the Bread competitions. The competition is being held in London and will be judged by Great British Bake Off Winner, Francis Quinn. We are really pleased to support our local bakers in this international competition.”
So flour your loaf tins, prime your piping bags, get those aprons on and ready, set, bake!
