When Secret World’s animal care manager Sara Cowen took an orphaned badger cub home in a kitten basket, the little critter took to his cosy new home straight away.
So the charity’s staff approached the local Pets At Home store in Bridgwater to see whether they might be able to help by donating an additional three Baby Bea beds for other badger cubs and animals.
Store manager Stuart Duncan was only too happy to help and the badger cubs are now enjoying their cosy beds with around-the-clock care at the wildlife rescue centre in East Huntspill.
“We are so grateful to Pets at Home for donating the beds and for choosing to support Secret World this year with fundraising,” said Pauline Kidner, charity founder.
Meanwhile, staff and volunteers are getting the centre ready for its Easter open weekend, from Good Friday until Easter Monday, when it will be open from 10am-4pm each day.
Visitors will be able to see some of the most recent admissions including badger cubs, fox cubs and other animals at the centre.
Pauline said: “Our annual ‘Badger Bonanza’ weekend is an opportunity to find out all about badgers, their secretive underground lives and how to help these animals in difficult times.”
