Sedgemoor District Council has written off almost £120,000 of bad debt this month.
At the latest meeting of the council’s Executive, councillors voted in favour of writing off £116,905.49, which included £94,354.74 from a firm in Highbridge that went into liquidation.
Sedgemoor District Council leader Duncan McGinty told councillors at meeting: “Unfortunately, in any economic times there are businesses that fail and debts are left behind – we’ve done our best to endeavour to collect the money when and were we can.”
