Fifteen budding singers, musicians and comedians of the future showed off their talent during Burnham-On-Sea’s very own X-Factor style talent competition this week, with the finals due to take place this Saturday (November 7th).
Called ‘B-Factor’ and open to people of all ages, the contest sees local judges choosing entries to go forwards to the final and win cash prizes.
Fifteen acts took part in the heats on Wednesday (4th November) at King Alfred School in Highbridge with the aim of clinching one of the ten final places at Saturday’s finals.
Organised by BEES (the Burnham Excellent Entertainment Society), with support from King Alfred School and Burnham & Highbridge Town Council, the finals will be held on Saturday November 7th at The Princess at 7.30pm.
The winner and runner-up will be chosen by a combination of judges and audience votes. Cash prizes are up for grabs, with £100 for first place and £50 for the runner-up.
“The standard was very high and we can definitely confirm the we have more than our fare share of local talent,” organiser Sandy Ballantyne told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The decision making was a hard process, but in the end the combination of judges and audience votes gave us our 10 finalists.”
“We are now looking forward to a fantastic show on Saturday with great variety, including a young stand up comedian and a pocket pantomine alongside some excellent singers and dancers.”
Tickets for the show are available on the door on the night only and are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
“We are very lucky to have the enormously popular entertainer and comedian “Buster” as our head judge. He is joined by Clive Slater from the Lions and John Holmes, Chairman of Burnham Pantomine Society, and last but not least Sarah Loveridge, choreographer and lifelong member of BEES.”
