Discount retailer B&M is “on schedule” to open its new store in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday, September 22nd.
The premises in Pier Street, which replaces the former Morrisons supermarket, will create more than 60 new jobs.
B&M will open its doors for the first time at 9am, and posters put up in the shop’s still white-washed windows are promoting the grand opening.
Contractors working on behalf of B&M have been decorating the exterior of the building in the company’s blue branding in recent days. Inside, new shelving has arrived in readiness for the products to be displayed.
“Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded and own label products including toys, food & drink, pet products and health & beauty,” said a B&M spokesman.
“We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in a few weeks.”
Many shops in Burnham-On-Sea’s town centre are concerned that the opening of B&M will adversely hit their business.
That point has previously been disputed by B&M, which says that its stores actually boost footfall in the surrounding area.
