16 players compete in annual Burnham-On-Sea tennis tournament

Sixteen members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club competed in the annual Ron Hines Memorial Trophy at the weekend.

The players all played four matches which ended with Head Coach Vinny Duddy, Carey Vohra, Josh Lutner and Pat Hunter facing each other in the final with Duddy and Vohra coming out winners 6-4.

The third and fourth playoff was won by Lee Fowler and Poo Jenkins against Club Coach Barry Ramsden and Heather Duddy.

Ladies Captain Lynn O’Dell and Steve Perry ended fifth, beating Colin Christison and Jo Fox into sixth by winning 6-5.

Heinz Schroeder and Vanessa Chenylle Proctor beat Dave Scooby Vennall and Julie Fowler 6-3.

The next social mixed doubles tournament will be held on Sunday 20th November from 11am, the Jan Mackay Memorial Tournament.

The club will also be holding a junior yellow ball competition on Saturday 29th October and on Sunday 30th October Vinny Duddy will be running a Mini Red Competition fron 11am, Mini Orange from 1pm, and a Mini Green from 3pm.
