Asda’s Highbridge store expansion given ‘thumbs up’ by shoppers

-

Shoppers have given their backing to the proposals by Asda to expand its Highbridge store.

The first of two public consultation session was held on Tuesday (February 11th) where plans to extend the store by 10,000 sq ft went on show. Over 100 people provided feedback on the proposals during the day.

The supermarket giant announced last month it wants to refurbish its Caxton Road store, adding a brand new mezzanine floor for a cafe and expanded product range, along with other alterations which include a revamp of its car park.

Asda spokeswoman Anita Syvret said: “There has been a lot of interest today with overwhelming positive feedback. Shoppers have told us they want to see a cafe at the store plus an expanded product range and even a post box. We are grateful to all those who have taken the trouble to express an interest.”

A second public consultation session will be held on Saturday, February 15th from 9am-1pm at the store.

Among the local shoppers giving their support was Jules Benjamin, pictured above, who said: “I would welcome a larger store as I’d be able to get everything in one place.”

The latest development comes just months after the Highbridge store’s plans for a new petrol station were approved, as first reported here.
