Asda’s new petrol station in Highbridge is set to open on Wednesday (December 2nd) with the promise of offering some of the area’s lowest fuel prices.
The supermarket is vowing to offer motorists some of the area’s lowest cost fuel with the opening of its long-awaited station.
Mick Vaughan, deputy manager at the Highbridge store, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We will be very competitive on prices, offering fuel at national Asda levels which is great news for motorists in the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area.”
He called the local petrol market “stale” and said it “needs some competition.”
Sedgemoor District Council gave the go-ahead for Asda’s eight-pump petrol station in November 2013.
The new petrol station has been built in place of the small residents’ car park next to the access road into the Highbridge store despite opposition from some of those living close by.
A spokesman at a local petrol station said: “Supermarkets sell poorer quality, lower octane fuel which is why it’s cheaper than normal garages.”
