Highbridge’s forthcoming Asda supermarket is to launch a loyalty shopping scheme to help independent shops in the surrounding area.
The store says it is keen to help local traders in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge and therefore is to launch a loyalty shopping scheme to reward customers who use the small independents as well as its own 40,000 sq ft store in Springfield Road.
Asda spokesman Dominic Birch revaled the scheme to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday (February 9th): “We want to sign up between 15 and 20 small retailers in the area in order to encourage shoppers to spend their money at both Asda and local shops.”
“We want to be help the local community and therefore will reward customers who spend a certain amount with vouchers for products in store.”
“The scheme has already been very successful in Scotland and we hope it will be popular at our forthcoming Highbridge store as well.”
Meanwhile, construction work at the Springfield Road site is on track, the supermarket giant said. The huge 40,000 sq ft store will officially open in November.
Alison Darling of the supermarket chain’s property communications team told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A lot of work is already underway, and formal construction of the buildings is due to begin next week.”
“We then hope to begin the internal fitting in September and the store will open to customers in November.”
The supermarket will also boast 273 customer car parking spaces and a further 24 spaces for general use by the public.
