Highbridge shoppers at the town’s Asda supermarket have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for a local hospice.
St Margaret’s Hospice has received £500 after the store’s customers voted with their green tokens to support community nurses in the Burnham area.
Terena Young, the Sedgemoor community fundraiser, said: “We really couldn’t have done it without you voting with your green tokens. St Margaret’s gained the most votes and so won £500.”
“This will pay for five visits to a patient in their own home from one of our amazing community nurses. St Margaret’s Hospice is truly grateful for your support and to the Asda store at Highbridge.”
“Most patients under the care of St. Margaret’s are able to remain in their own home, supported by our Sedgemoor community services without coming into the hospice. We continually strive to reach everyone in the community that needs our care, often during their precious last days.”
St Margaret’s Hospice cared for over 3,800 people last year which is free to the patient and their families.
