Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge army cadets have this week been given a financial boost thanks to shoppers at a local supermarket.
Asda in Highbridge has this week presented £500 to the group, which is the winning organisation in the store’s ongoing tokens scheme.
The cadets attracted the most green tokens from shoppers over the past three months, while Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club and Burnbridge Wanderers were both runners-up and have received £200 each.
Platoon commander Laura Sampson thanked the store’s acting manager Matt Caulton and said the funding would help buy new sports equipment for the group.
The cadets meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm when newcomers are welcome. They are based in the army cadets HQ in Highbridge Road, accessed opposite Cassis Close.
