That ‘asda’ be good news! Shoppers raise cash for Burnham groups

-

Three good causes in the Burnham-On-Sea area have this week benefited from a new fundraising scheme at Asda’s Highbridge store.

The supermarket is encouraging customers to vote for their favorite groups by dropping tokens into collecting boxes – and those that attract the most receive a cash donation.

The Friends of Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial Hospital has received the most tokens during the scheme’s first month and Tony Deahl, who is Chairman of the group, is pictured receiving a £100 donation from the store’s Community Life Champion, Kim Blyth.

Burnham Dreamscheme and Highbridge’s King Alfred Boxing Club also received £25 each for taking part in the vote. All three groups were very grateful for the opportunity to be involved with the first vote.

Kim told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I was pleased with the success of the first vote and was very impressed with how customers have taken the initiative on board. Asda strives to support the local community around each store and get the whole community involved. This allows many different causes the chance to not only raise funds, but also generate awareness.”

To propose a local group or charity, pick up a nomination form which can be found on the community board in the foyer of the Highbridge store.
