Burnham’s Birds and Beasts Arts Festival gets underway

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Birds and Beasts Art Festival got off to a great start on Friday (July 16th) despite variable weather.

Local artists placed several sculptures around Apex Park’s lake and lots of people took advantage of free tuition during ‘Painting in the Park’.

Among those displaying work on Friday was Sarah Berryman with her pink flamingo, pictured right.

The Birds and Beasts Festival runs from Friday 16th July until Sunday 18th July from 10-4pm each day, with free entry – the full schedule is here.

Arts group Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HaBA) is organising an array of visual treats, including a sculpture trail around the park, family workshops, live music, an arts and crafts fair, a photography display, a photographic competition and a drawing competition.

The sculpture on show has been produced by local schools, youth clubs, residential homes and some of the artists themselves.

HaBA is running the festival with support from Somerset County Council, Sedgemoor District Council, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, Burnham Holiday Village, Burnham BMX Club and Burnham’s Cultural and Arts Development Society.
