New series of Burnham-On-Sea art workshops get underway in town

-

Burnham-On-Sea residents who have wanted to try drawing and painting but found it difficult to commit to a training course are being invited along to a new series of sessions.

Art tutor Ade Bowen, right, has begun new workshops at Burnham’s Somerset Skills & Learning Centre in Princess Street.

The centre is challenging users to challenge themselves and develop a new skill this year.

They workshops follow different themes with all equipment provided. Ade says he hopes the workshops will encourage more local people to get their pencils and paint brushes out this summer and be creative.

“I have put together a programme of topics that have been popular in my weekly classes and made them available to people who maybe can not commit to a longer course,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

These ‘bite sized’ workshops are all part of the ‘Learn 2015 Challenge’ that Somerset Skills & Learning is promoting during this year.

“There are thirteen different topics, include painting fairies, the Burnham Lighthouse, animals and botanical painting,” he added.

“Media being used involves acrylics, charcoal, colour pencils, pastels, watercolour and watercolour pencils, and prices start from £15.”

“There are also two family workshops. One enrolment covers one adult and one child, and you could get involved in some pirate activities on Sunday 10th May and meet Captain Jack Sparrow, or on Sunday 17th June there is a Frozen themed morning of fun with Queen Elsa!”

Readers can enrol at the centre in Princess Street, Burnham, or call 0330 332 7997 for more information or see www.learnsomerset.co.uk.
