Burnham-On-Sea art students complete art and design course

-

This was the first ‘level 1’ art course of its kind to be run in Burnham for almost ten years.

Students can have the opportunity to achieve a similar artistic qualification when a new course starts in the autumn.

To pass the course, the learners had to produce portfolios of work that demonstrated their competence in a number of artistic skills and mediums, including drawing pens, pastels, charcoal, watercolour and acrylics.

The successful group, pictured, are Felicity Hamm, Linda Page, Evelyn Rouse, Maureen Urch and Debra Humphries (not pictured) with their tutor Ade Bowen.

Felicity, who lives in Burnham, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have very much enjoyed achieving this qualification. I have learnt so much about art from this course and I find myself looking at things completely differently now.”

Evelyn added: “I really feel so much more confident with my drawing and painting. It’s remarkable how much my skills have developed in such a short time.”

Examples of their work can currently be seen in the window of the Burnham Library.

If you fancy having a go at something new, the next level 1 course starts in October 2013, but if you can’t wait, you can get involved in the Adult Learners Week workshops in May, or any of the short courses over the summer. Visit www.learnsomerset.co.uk/leisure-learning or call 0845 688 0488.
