Seaside-themed paintings created by more than 50 children from the Burnham-On-Sea area have gone on display at a special exhibition in the town this week.
Sea Breeze Art Gallery in Victoria Street invited local young artists from eight local schools to take part in an art competition aimed at encouraging children to paint their local scenery.
Gallery owner Rhonda Mills has judged the best entries this week and the colourful entries are currently on display, as pictured. Rhonda said: “The overall standard of entries has been very good. It’s nice to see such a wide range of ideas that follow the theme ‘living by the seaside’. The children have clearly had a lot of fun working on them.”
The competition has been sponsored by Purrr-fect Pottery and Sea Breeze.
In Category A (for children in reception to year 2) first place was won by seven-year-old Keziah Johnson of Brent Knoll School and second spot went to Kody Crosby of Burnham Infants.
Category B, for children in years 3-6, was won by Sophie Daymond of Berrow Primary School’s Year Five, and second place went to Lewis Crosby from the same school.
