Stormy weather failed to dampen spirits for dozens of athletes competing in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual Spring aquathlon on Sunday (March 29th).
The popular event, organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, comprised of a 250 metre swim at Burnham Pool followed by a 2.5km run along the seafront while the children completed a shorter ‘splash and dash’ event in Crosses Penn gardens.
Organiser Martin Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been another success and thanked all those who had turned out to support the event in “horrible weather conditions.”
“These were the toughest weather conditions we have ever seen for an Aquathlon but only two people were no-shows and we had a great turnout in both the adults and childrens races.”
“Huge thanks must also go to all our volunteer marshals who were simply fantastic today,” he added.
