Highbridge’s Apex Park gets a spring clean thanks to team of volunteers

-

Golf clubs, tyres and carpet were among the items taken away by volunteers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge during a big clean-up operation at Apex Park on Tuesday (March 7th) to mark the nationwide ‘Great British Spring Clean’.

The aim of the Great British Spring Clean campaign is to bring people together across the country to clear up the litter that is seen in towns, villages, countryside and parks across the UK.

Fourteen volunteers took part in Wednesday’s event at Apex Park in Highbridge, as pictured here.

Marina Turner, Secretary of The Friends of Apex Park, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were delighted to participate alongside so many willing volunteers who all played their bit in helping make Apex Park a cleaner place to live.”

“I would like to thank the friends of Apex Park, Sedgemoor Model Boat Club as well as members of public who were able to spare a few hours of their time.”

“We had fourteen volunteers and managed to collect twenty-three bags of rubbish which included a tyre, golf club, carpet and metal poles which just shows what can be achieved when there are so many pairs of hands!”
