Flood-damaged footpath at Apex Park re-opened after £7,500 repairs

-

A £7,500 project to repair a flood-damaged footpath at Highbridge’s Apex Park has been completed.

Safety concerns were raised earlier this year about the crumbling surface of the lakeside path, pictured right, which prompted the work over the summer months.

The lakeside footpath had been damaged during last winter’s heavy rain and flooding, as featured here.

Sedgemoor District Council’s contractors have recently completed the work and the footway is now fully re-open.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We have reinforced the edges with concrete filled sandbags, re-inforced the rest and then relaid the tarmac. The final cost was in the region of £7,500.”
