Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park has been praised by users in a new study published this week.
During October, 100 people have completed a survey overseen by Sedgemoor Community Support.
It found 80% say personal safety in the park is ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ while 75% praised disabled access.
Also, 92% rated the landscape as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, and 98% highly rated the park’s wildlife.
The results found 84% of those surveyed were repeat visitors. The majority are keen to see continued events, such as the successful annual Playday.
Car parking, information, signs, the children’s play area and skate park were all given a thumbs up.
Areas for improvement include the cleanliness of the toilets, making the public more aware of information about the park, and improving the availability of dog waste bins.
Harley Cook, Parks and Open Spaces Policy Officer, said: “Sedgemoor District Council aims to manage Apex Park for the benefit of the community and encourage wildlife so these results really support the work we have been doing.”
“Lots of activities take place, such as the Sunday morning dog training club and model boating on Wednesday evenings in the summer and on Sundays.”
“Angling is also a very popular park activity with twenty-one new fishing platforms constructed in January 2009 around the fishing lake. The children’s play and skate park are also big draws to local families so we want to make sure all the parks facilities are kept in a great condition to the enjoyment of all.”
Apex also has an active friends group and those who would like to get involved should call 01278 436420 or email here.
