Fish poaching concerns raised at Highbridge’s Apex Park

-

Town councillors have this week raised concerns about the poaching of fish from the lakes at Highbridge’s Apex Park.

The problem was discussed during Monday’s meeting of Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.

Cllr Janet Keen said: “I have heard that poaching of fish has been taking place which is a concern, particulaly for the anglers who spend lots to keep the lakes stocked and also keep them maintained and clean for fishing.”

PCSO Yvette Mayo, from Burnham-On-Sea Police, responded: “I am not aware of any incidents this year, but several poaching cases were referred to the wardens last year.”

It was noted that anyone discovered committing poaching offences can face a substantial fine at court.
