Walkers at Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park have been warned to take extra care after heavy rain has left footpaths submerged this week.
Several days of heavy rain has left the lake’s water levels at a record high, causing footpaths and benches to disappear under the extra water, as pictured here.
“The water level has risen substantially after all the wet weather and this means some paths around the lake are unusable,” a spokesperson for the Friends of Apex Park told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Some walkers are using the grassy areas beside the lakes instead, but these are very slippery and we ask people to take extra care and to use the alternative unflooded paths.”
More rain fell on Sunday and several roads in the Burnham area are closed following several days of heavy rainfall. Heavy showers are expected to affect the area during Monday.
