Colourful flower display at Apex Park marks RAF’s 100th birthday

-

This colorful flower display has been unveiled this week at the entrance to Highbridge’s Apex Park to mark a special anniversary.

The Royal Air Force is celebrating its 100th birthday during 2018 and the floral display at the park is part of the local celebrations.

The centenary itself will be marked by special events, activities and other initiatives at local, regional and national levels running from April to the end of November 2018.

Earlier this month, a special scroll commemorating the RAF anniversary arrived in Burnham-On-Sea at the Royal British Legion headquarters in Victoria Street.

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor Cllr Bill Hancock, Mayoress Frances Hancock and Town Crier Alistair Murray were the VIP guests alongside Burnham’s RAFA President John Bryan and RBL members.

The unique scroll is visiting around 50 branches of the RAFA (Royal Air Force Association) across the south west this year.
