Highbridge’s Apex Park awarded Green Flag award

-

Highbridge’s Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park has this week been awarded a Green Flag Award for 2009-2010.

The results of this year’s Green Flag Award were announced by TV star Michaela Strachan at a Green Flag Awards Ceremony in Bournemouth on Wednesday (22nd July).

The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The scheme recognises parks that achieve excellent standards, in the same way that the Blue Flag scheme recognises clean beaches.

Cllr Jane Moreton, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, and Marina Turner, Parks and Open Spaces Project Officer at Sedgemoor District Council collected the award at the ceremony.

Council spokeswoman Lorraine Folan told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re all thrilled that the park has been recognised in this way again.”

She added that an official flag-raising ceremony at the park will be held on Thursday 6th August at 2.15pm.
