A Burnham-On-Sea shop owner has warned traders in the town centre to be extra vigilant after mean thieves stole a full charity collection box.
The box was stolen earlier this week from next to the till at the AOB camping shop in College Street.
Owner Nigel Pearcy told Burnham-On-Sea.com he’s shocked someone would steal cash intended for a charity and has urged other businesses to watch out for the culprits.
“Any theft is terrible, but stealing charity money is just disgraceful – the very lowest form of crime,” he said.
“The box was full of coins and would probably have had around £30-£40 inside for Clevedon Pier.”
“I urge shops to check the security of their charity boxes to reduce the chance of this happening again.”
CCTV video footage in the shop is being examined to see if it holds any clues and Burnham Police have also been informed.
He has also asked anyone who finds the green charity box or has information about the incident to get in contact with the police via 101.
