33 student anti-bullying ambassadors have signed up as volunteers at King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge to mark anti-bullying week.
The school has dozens of Anti Bullying Ambassadors (ABA), who are wearing badges for students to talk to.
Last month the school hosted a training day by the Princess Diana Awards organisation to train up the ambassadors.
Now they have been conducting assemblies every day to talk about the scheme and encourage others to join. 33 more pupils have volunteered to continue the excellent project.
It was all part of a week of exciting activities to encourage students to ‘stand up, step in and speak out’.
Students also centred activities around the school’s ‘diversitree’, with an ‘odd sock day’ giving the message ‘it’s OK to be different’ and students pinning up pledge balloons to show support. A Student Film Club also showed an LGBTQ film to years 9 and 10.
Principal Nathan Jenkins said: “It has been a brilliant week and our students have engaged so well with the activities. We are delighted to see so many caring students volunteering to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.”
