Mark Youth Theatre is performing the classic tale of Annie Junior at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre and Arts Centre this week.
Annie is a plucky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.
Performances take place on March 24th and March 25th at 7.30pm and there will also be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on March 25th. Tickets cost £6 for concessions and £9 for standard. For more information and to book, visit princesstheatreandartscentre.co.uk or call 01278 784464.
In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s scheming actions, and finds a new family and home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
“Its upbeat plot and flamboyant characters have made Annie one of the most beloved musicals in history and Mark Youth Theatre do it justice in this version which is specially written for younger performers,” says a spokesperson.
Directed by Clare Banwell and Kelly Boulger, the show’s title roles will be played by Shannon Tolton (Annie), Taila Halford (Miss Hannigan), Christian Greene (Daddy Warbucks), Aisha Jackson-Voyzey (Grace).
The Mark Youth Theatre group has enjoyed a successful 12 months, winning awards for its performances of The Messenger and Baker Street last year.
