A three-day visual arts festival with a theme of Alice In Wonderland is to be held in Highbridge’s Apex Park this weekend.
Called ‘Alice in Apex Park’, local artists will be placing many wonderland characters around the lakes for visitors to find in addition to scores of other art-related activities.
The event takes place from Friday 15th July through to Sunday 18th July and will be open each day from 10am-4.30pm.
It is the latest event to be organised by local group The Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HaBA).
“You will be able to meet the characters from the well-loved story of Alice In Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass on a sculpture trail around the lakes and also visit the family workshops which include mask making, mad hat making and willow art,” one of the organisers, Sue Hammond-Lovatt, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
There will also be a number of competitions to enter, a drumming workshop and live music. And there will also be art and craft exhibitions plus visits from Somerset Wildlife Trust, RSPB and other local groups.
The sculpture on show has been produced by local schools, youth clubs, residential homes and some of the artists themselves. The event will be rounded off with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Sunday afternoon.
Highbridge and Burnham Artists came together to initiate and promote art activities and events in both communities and recognises the unique qualities of both areas and seeks to develop strong creative community links and dialogue between them.
