Highbridge’s new Aldi supermarket is on track to open this summer, the firm has confirmed this week.
Work to build the new supermarket on the Isleport Business Park, just off Bennett Road, is progressing to schedule.
The new Highbridge Aldi store will open over the next few weeks, with Aldi’s recruitment website promoting new job opportunities.
New signs outside the Highbridge store show the opening hours will be 8am-10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
Construction of the new 1,804 square-metre Aldi store and adjacent roads began in January.
An Aldi spokeswoman said: “Our new Highbridge store will create up to 30 jobs for the community.” A mixture of part-time and full-time positions will be created.
Meanmwhile, Travelodge has confirmed its new 75-bed Highbridge hotel will open next to the site in October 2018.
Sedgemoor District Council approved plans for both the major developments last year. As Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here, Travelodge is to build a four-storey hotel with 75 bedrooms, 75 parking spaces, and a cafe/bar.
A fast food drive-thru is also set to be built at the site, with formal plans yet to be unveiled.
