The winner of this year BBC1 Apprentice was also a winner with visitors to the Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival in October.
Baker and entrepreneur Alana Spencer won the prime-time TV series on Sunday night after being chosen by Lord Alan Sugar for her Ridiculously Rich cake business idea.
Alana took time out from the show during October to attend the autumn Burnham-On-Sea Food Festival where she was a popular stall holder, pictured above, and also gave a well-attended demonstrations of her baking skills.
Festival organiser Beverley Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Celebrating new talent is a big part of the Food and Drink Festival. We were very pleased to welcome her to the October festival. The feedback from customers was that she had the winning formula and it’s clear our visitors have great taste. We were very impressed by her enthusiasm, drive and keenness to share her skills on the demo stage.”
Alana first began her first business at age 17 as a self-taught chocolatier and then branched out into cake-making, launching her firm Narna’s from her parent’s kitchen after getting a starter grant.
Now, with £250,000 of financial backing form Lord Sugar as the winner of the popular BBC1 series she plans to take her Ridiculously Rich cake business nationwide.
Fellow Burnham Food Festival Director Sarah Milner Simonds added: “The Apprentice has given great exposure to the hard graft put in by small producers across the country. Through the Young Makers Market at the Burnham Food and Drink Festival we want to offer more young people the springboard for their careers. Very many congratulations from us both to Alana on her win.”
Dates for the 2017 Burnham Food Festivals are 27th May and 21st October. The organsiers say they are now open for booking and have free pitches for applicants to the Young Makers Market and a bursary pitch for new traders.
