-

A ceremony has been held in Burnham-On-Sea to mark the official affiliation of the Royal British Legion and the town’s air training corps.

The Burnham-On-Sea branch of the Royal British Legion has marked its official link with the 290 Burnham & Highbridge Detatched Flight Devon and Somerset Wing Sir Training Corps.

A ceremony was held at the Cadet Centre in Highbridge Road where framed certificates were presented to the groups to make the link official.

Steve Manville, Commanding Officer of 290 Squadron, which oversees both the Weston and Burnham cadet units, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The affiliation with the Royal British Legion is good for us because it brings us recognition as a unit and also introduces closer links for Remembrance Day. We will assist the Legion in November and we look forwarding to working closer together.”

Those in attendance included Sqn Ldr Chris White, Sector Commander for the Devon and Somerset Wing ATC; Sqn Ldr Gerry Hawkes President of 290 Squadron; Cllr Janet Keen Chairman of 290 Squadron ATC; Lyn Lovell County Vice Chairman Somerset Royal British Legion, Bernard Spray Chairman of Burnham’s Royal British Legion and Ruth Crosby of Burnham’s Royal British Legion.
